From August 6 to 8, 2026, the 11th China Xinjiang (Changji) Seed Exhibition and Trade Fair, themed ‘Empowering the Seed Industry with Science and Technology, Ensuring Food Security Through Innovation,’ officially kicked off at the Xinjiang Agricultural Expo Park in the Changji National Agricultural High-Tech Industrial Demonstration Zone. Xiaoming Zhang, CEO of Shandong Province Seeds Group Co., Ltd., led a delegation to Xinjiang to attend the event, engage in in-depth collaboration with the Northwest Silk Road seed market, and establish a channel for cooperation on high-quality seeds between Shandong and Xinjiang.

Changji is a key hub for Xinjiang’s seed production industry, home to national-level vegetable and grain seed breeding bases, with a year-round seed production area exceeding one million mu. This year’s Seed Expo features a ‘one main venue, two satellite venues’ layout, combining indoor booths with extensive field displays of plant varieties. It brings together nearly 500 seed and agricultural machinery companies from across the country and attracts over 30,000 industry professionals and large-scale growers to network and conduct business. It serves as a specialized seed industry trade and exchange platform that extends its reach across Northwest China and connects with Central Asia.

The company participated in the exhibition with a focus on observation, exchange, and market matching. Taking into account Xinjiang’s climate characteristics—abundant sunlight and high summer temperatures—it highlighted superior varieties well-suited to local conditions, such as heat-tolerant premium hard-fleshed tomatoes and long-day white-skinned onions, to meet Xinjiang’s cultivation needs. The participating team took full part in supporting activities such as the symposium on high-quality development in the seed industry and field tastings of high-quality seeds. They engaged in in-depth exchanges with numerous seed companies, farming cooperatives, and agricultural supply dealers, holding discussions on topics including the localization trials of heat-tolerant vegetable varieties, cross-regional supply and sales of high-quality seeds, and seed trade along the Silk Road. As a result, they reached preliminary cooperation agreements on multiple varieties.

Drawing on years of experience in vegetable selection and breeding, as well as its operational expertise in northern markets, Shandong Province Seeds Group Co., Ltd. will use this Changji Seed Fair as an opportunity to optimize variety selection and breeding plans tailored to Xinjiang’s growing conditions, provide supporting standardized field management techniques, and leverage Lu Zhong’s R&D strengths to empower Xinjiang’s specialty vegetable industry to improve quality and enhance efficiency.
